Write Me!

Do you have any ideas, specific topics or beauty related questions you would like me to talk about? If so please write me at dreamkt07@gmail.com! Thanks!

Inspired.

I recently had the opportunity to interview visionary, and renovator, Tony Troppe. He has great dreams for the future of Akron, taking old, broken down buildings and breathing new life into them. This interview opened my eyes once again to the fact that we can make Akron a great place. We can build it up and be inspired by the legends, artists, great minds and talent that have lived, worked and visited here. Check out the story at http://www.akroneur.com/!!

Turn the Lights On

Lately I’ve been noticing a lot of “weary warriors” in the church. I don’t know about you, but I am seeing many “lights” go out. It’s an epidemic. I’m seeing once strong believers and people of faith growing faint hearted and wanting to give up. The thing to remember is that the enemy wants to dim the lights and even blow out the candle of your life. He doesn’t want you to shine for the world to see. He’s trying to put out the light of your heart, mind and spirit. He seeks who he may devour. May! Don’t let him burn you out! Keep the light of Jesus burning so brightly that the devil gets so blinded he can’t see straight and is left spinning in circles! Ask God, and He will unveil truth to your heart, open your eyes to really see, and your ears to really hear. The enemy wants us to stay blinded by the darkness, but it’s time to turn the lights on and bring to light the realities of our lives and how we are living them and who we are living for. Let God turn on the light of your understanding. Allow Him to open your eyes and to turn on the lights of your heart and mind.
Is there something you’ve been keeping in the dark? What has your issue been? So many of us are walking around in the dark when YOU have the power to turn on the Light! When you speak, picture words of life entering the atmosphere. You have the power to release gems of wisdom, power and love, and the power to pray to set miracles into motion. God wants to work through you!
Do you need to turn the light back on in your life? Do you feel like you’ve been living in darkness lately? Don’t cast your crown to the devil. Be determined to hold onto it until the day Jesus comes.
Don’t be led away from your First Love, don’t be deceived like Eve ( 2 Corinthians 11:2-3).

Tis the Season to Give!

I can't believe Christmas is almost here!!! I love it, it's one of my favorite times of year (besides the snow). This year has FLOWN by...
As the weather has been so freezing cold, I've been thinking a lot about the homeless. I could barely stand walking from the mall to my car the other day...I cannot imagine how those living outside feel. I will never forget my  interview last year around this time with people living in a "tent city" in Akron. This handful of people had literally set up tents, creating their own "city". The tents were frail and looked as if one bad snowstorm could knock them down. It was the saddest sight.
Thankfully there are non-profits and ministries in Akron working around the clock to help these people. The Haven of Rest and Salvation Army to name a couple. Before the New Year I plan to go through my closet and sort through all of my stuff, giving to one of these shelters. I encourage you to do the same!! If you need a list of ministries and non-profits to give to, you can visit www.akroneur.com. It has a list of organizations and what they are all about.

The greatest gift we've all been given is Jesus, the least we could do is share that with others. Don't forget the reason for the season. Keep CHRIST in Christmas!

Loving It!!!

I finally finished Christmas shopping and love what I got everyone!! But, I must confess, I bought a few things for myself! There were such great sales at Sephora and a lot of other stores.

Currently I am loving the Mac 188 Brush - it's amazing! It's so light and fluffy and doesn't pull on your skin as you apply foundation. It's worth the cost. I love it! Here is a photo of it:
Mac 188 Brush

Also, Aquage Ultra-Firm Finishing Spray. It smells good and is good to use when teasing your hair. Def. gets my stamp of approval. Try it!
Also, Lip Smackers natural line. I got all 3 flavors: honeydew melon, pink guava and acai berry. Their ingredients contain olive oil and beeswax, aloe and vitamin E!

Keep Pressing On

When you give your life to God and start walking in His purposes and plans for your life, don't expect the enemy to roll out a red carpet for you... Instead, he may try to trip you up. But do not fear because God's perfect love casts out all fear!!  And what the enemy meant for harm, God will turn around and use for your good!

Beauty Haul

Every now and then, when I find beauty products that I like I want to share them with you! Recently I took a trip to Sephora and FELL IN LOVE with several thingsJ As winter is fast approaching it is all about MOISTURE. For those of you with dry skin, you will love this!

Body Butter by Sephora, in Vanilla Cupcake ~ This is extremely moisturizing and smells so good too! You’ll want to eat it J It also adds such a nice radiance to your skin, without the oily feel.

Next, my new favorites…the Pacifica line of body butters! They come in lotion bottle form but are very moisturizing (Not as moisturizing as the above body butter). Though they’re called “Body Butters”, they’re more like lotion, maybe just a bit heavier. I also got a tiny one to carry in my purse cause my hands get so dry in the winter. Or, to keep on my desk at work! I bought “Tahitian Gardenia” because it reminded me a lot of the Kim Kardashian perfume, which I love! And Hawaiian Ruby Guava. The small bottle is just $5! I know Sephora can be a bit expensive… But they are very moisturizing, and organic - good for your skin, which is worth it!
Last but not least…Sephora’s Coconut Cream Dry Oil - A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! I love this stuff and wish I knew about it in the summer. It smells great and the best part is that you spray it on which keeps it from getting your hands all oily (I hate that with other oils). It hydrates and gives your skin shine too. I love these products!! Check them out if you hit up Sephora any time soon J The great thing about Sephora is you can test everything out before you buy it.

Something New on the Horizon...

I was so inspired this past week during an interview with young men and women at the Horizon House. Horizon House brings in homeless youth and provides homes for them through their independent living program. Many of these youth have aged out of foster-care, never knew loving families, their parents died or just didn’t care for them. It was heartbreaking to hear their stories, especially of one young man who’s real parent’s didn’t want him…and then, to make matters worse, his adoptive parents didn’t even want him. When I asked the girls about some of the obstacles they face, they told me just getting where they need to go - they have to take the bus (when they can even afford it). They don’t have cars, they don’t have health insurance, so something like just going to the dentist or doctor is not an option for them.
It caused me to think of the things that I take for granted each and every day… I started counting my blessings.
Still, despite their awful circumstances, these girls were attending Akron University and looking for jobs. I saw hope and potential in these girls, though they didn’t see it in themselves. I told them this is just the beginning of a new journey in their life…
I don’t know where you are in life or what problems you are facing, but nothing lasts forever - EVERYTHING changes!! Never give up or give in to life’s difficulties. Keep pressing forward. God opens doors no man can open, He gives favor, and will take you places no education or status can bring you. Let God start opening the doors for you…God Bless!! *

Let it Snow...Let it Snow...

This morning I woke up to a winter wonderland outside of my window! I can't believe it's snowing already...I feel like summer was just yesterday. Today is going to be a good day, I'm going to the cutest little bookstore in Chagrin Falls to give them a copy of my book. It's every author's dream to finally see their vision come to life. I've had a vision in my heart and mind for this book for years...and it's finally come to pass. Lately I've been getting ready for the NEW things God has in store. Sometimes we have to get rid of the old, to make room for the new. It's not always easy to let go, but when you release your plan and welcome His, it is worth it in the end!

"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." *Isaiah 43:19*
