In today’s world, women young and old are BOMBARDED with false, unrealistic images of beauty that are unattainable. My heart goes out to every girl with insecurities. I don’t know of one who doesn’t have them. I think it is one thing that we all have in common - the fact that there is that one thing (or more) that we don’t like about ourselves.
I remember an episode of Oprah where they portrayed women from all over the world and what their definition of beauty was. For those in Japan it was porcelain, pure, white skin. They actually drink collagen to try to stay young and beautiful! There was another country where curves were the most desirable in women. I forget where it was, but they actually start feeding their young girls non-stop until they throw up, and then they feed them more so that they will get fatter and fatter.
At the end of the show they concluded that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to have to go through dangerous rituals to “become beautiful“. I don’t want to fry my skin out under a tanning bed, starve myself for the perfect figure, or do anything else that will harm my body. For what? I believe all women are beautiful as God created them and they can shine with what they’ve got. You don’t need plastic surgery to be beautiful. Work with what you’ve got! This year I’m praying that I will be more thankful and confident in the exact way that God created me, instead of thinking of all of the things I would like to alter.
The Bible says that you are a poem written by God. You hold unique value and beauty within yourself. Nothing is wrong with trying to improve your appearance, but there are healthy ways to do it. Eating a healthy, balanced diet a diet and working out are two of the greatest beauty remedies! Get your heart pumping and liven up your body with “living foods” and it will shine through! Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder - God! And He says YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL!!! Look into the Bible, it is a mirror and will tell you who you are and what God’s thoughts are about you. This will shape you into the confident woman that He created you to be!
“You made all of the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous.” ~ Psalm 139:13-14
